FYI… I experienced a strange behavior today. I was building a macro and after a few inserts when I went to insert the next line the CPU went 100% and memory was being acquired in approximately 3.2 MB increments very rapidly. After trying many resets and making some entries inactive to no avail, I finally was able to continue by deleting half the entries. Did not have the problem again. I’m at R11 with pb903_8836 fix applied. Just a heads up.

Wow, similar thing happened to me last night. CPU went to 100%, don't know about the memory usage. I had to kill PH and then restart. This happened as I was inserting lines. Maybe I was inserting too quick?

I got lucky and have a backup with the problem still there if needed. I ran it again to make sure it was still reproducible.

Pete,
If you've got a database file with instructions on how I can reproduce this, it would be great!! Ive had several odd reports concerning macro editing in the Explorer and havent had much luck in tracking it down since I cant reproduce.
If you could email me the saved database file and instructions on how to reproduce, I'll do my best to finally nip this bug.

I've had the same experience adding multiple enties. It SEEMED to do better if I hit the save (lightening bolt) after every few lines. It also seemed more likely to occur if the Insteon explorer window was opened as well.
It didn't corrupt my database or anything that I could tell. I could kill the PH process, wait for everything to get stopped (SMD,etc) go back in and maybe only loose 1 or 2 lines.
I'm still on version 10

Dave, were you able to recreate the loop I sent you? I experienced 2 more loops today while in PH Explorer but could not duplicate them. Both happened after leaving a macro and while trying to display a different entry.

I've had another couple of lockups as well. Seems to be when I'm cutting and pasting (commands are the same/repetitive, but the device referenced changes). Again, seemed to be better if I saved every few changes. Possibly a buffer issue? WOuld it be possible to implement some sort of auto-save feature after X changes?
I know most "auto-save" features are after X minutes of inactivity which to me is silly. What if something happens while you're working (such as these lockups). I've only had one program that featured the X number of changes way of setting auto-save, but it's the best way in my mind.

Beachbum,
I received your email from yesterday and while I havent been able to reproduce, Ive added code to that *should* prevent the error from occurring again. Im still not sure what is causing it though. The error is a "null" object reference, but unless you were in the middle of closing the PowerHome Explorer, I wouldnt expect this type of error. In your post above, you say you experienced the error while leaving a macro. This *may* cause the "null" object reference so in this case, it should be fixed.
Cicero, I may be able to look into an auto-save feature (hopefully it wouldnt be needed if I can fix the hanging problem) but it would defeat the new undo and redo functions. You can only "undo" back to the last save. Once it's saved to the database, no chance to undo.

Welcome back, I trust you had a nice sabbatical.. I wasn’t closing the macro but moving to the next line. I also saved that DB if you need it. Also what I sent you yesterday is not the loop that I sent to you earlier. Let me know what you need to get closer to this.

Well, my servitude on the planet Zurg has ended and Im finally back. Didnt mean to be gone so long, but we are automating the entire planet. I explained to the Zurgians that my fellow PowerHomies were calling for my assistance, but they would have none of it. So I finally finished and they've beamed me back to earth  (actually Ive just been busy trying to get .12 ready to go for this weekend).
I loaded your database from Aug 17, but it would not reproduce on my system. It's very strange. I may be able to compile up a test PowerHome so you can see if the problem still exists. It won't even be alpha because in order to work, it requires a new database runtime but you should be able to test the PowerHome Explorer functions. You'll definately need to keep your existing version though because this won't work other than to test.
Let me know if you're interested and I'll put it together for you.

Go for it I'm easy, I'm just not affordable.  I’d be glad to test as I have a couple of test beds that won’t interfere with my everyday operations....
