Just curious... how many posts do i need to not be considered a "n00b" any more? I'm sick of only seeing one star next to my ID, and I don't want to "post-wh0re". Except this once.

Its not just the number of posts... you also have to learn the secret handshake.

In that case, I humbly request a "test" forum where I can postwhore enough to get a second star. It's not fair that I've been here a while but can't think of anything intelligent to post...

 | | | You've been here since April. That's 3 months. You're really concerned about stars? I'm sure we can take up a collection for you if you're that hard up.

 No, not really.

It started as a serious question, since I couldn't figure out the cut-off for the awarding of stars. It sort of got a life of its own, though... and... well... one thing leads to another.

This forum is a great source of information. One of these days I hope to be more on the "giving" end than the "receiving" end.

Yeah, and I try to do the same. The unfortunate part is that it sometimes takes a long time for a response. I understand that this is usually because people have other priorities, as do I, which is why I don't ask as many questions as I could.

My plans are only about 20% complete, due to (among other things) time and budget. The lack of Insteon hardware is also an area of frustration (motion detectors, IR, and RF come to mind). I also find that I'm not as creative as some people in finding applications for the stuff. I never would have dreamed that I could control iTunes with it...

I've been using Powerhome for some time now and I keep getting amazed by what I can do with it. If you check the programming section theres the occupancy tracker I set up. It uses 2 security sensors modified to act as IR triplines to keep count of how many ppl are in a given room, once it's empty the lights are turned off.

I don't think theres actually anything you CAN'T control with it. You just need the right accessories and a little programming work.
